In 1993, Mid States Electric got a hamburger addition and hides plant upgrade in Texas.
In 1996, Mid States Electric worked on a pork plant in Iowa. Here, we have provided a large ammonia quick chill cooler. In order to fit the cooler, all the modification to the facility was done while keeping the plant operational during its construction.
In 1999, Mid States Electric acquired another property in South Sioux City. This does not include the existing concrete structure for welding, material storage, and a new 60 X 100 steel building that was built to store more equipment and tools.
In 2002, Mid States Electric began working in the Ethanol Industry. It was a challenging task to handle two projects simultaneously in South Dakota and Missouri. One out of which was a new 100-million gallon per year facility wired entirely by our professionals.
In 2003, we became a member of ABC of Iowa. We started our in-house Apprenticeship Training Program with ABC.
The Department of Labor approved program qualifies graduates to take their State of Iowa Journeyman Test. In addition to the electrical training, ABC also provides training for our gas and oil operator qualification testing.
The current owners, Justin Hamar, Jim Henschen and Brian Henschen, bought Chase Electric in 1991 and renamed the company as Mid States Electric. We started by working for the same set of clients that Chase Electric had, from the office located in South Sioux City, NE.
Initially, we catered primarily to the meat packing industry in Iowa and Nebraska. Over the years, Mid States Electric slowly started to grow. We increased the number of general contractors and other food processing plants providing their service to meat packing industries, material handling, and ammonia refrigerated cold storage plants.
Our location in Iowa has ample room for our panel building shop, Greenlee tool repair shop, parts and equipment storage, and all of our office personnel.
In 2004, Mid States Electric got the first biodiesel job. We were the sole provider of electrical contractors for this new 50-million gallon per year facility.
In 2006, Mid States Electric handled the first wind energy project and completed work on 36-wind generators in Central Nebraska.
In 2007, Mid States Electric worked on the first project for the Army Corps of Engineers. We installed a control system for a new water-chiller system at this power generation dam.
In 2008, Mid States Electric installed temperature compensated radar level sensors on 48 large crude oil storage vessels in Oklahoma. We have also registered with ISNetworld and all our employees received complete operator qualification training to work in these facilities.
In 2009, as Mid States Electric outgrew its location in South Sioux City, NE, we moved across the river to our new location with 24,000 sq. ft. building with 5 acres of land in Iowa.
